Study from your own course material

A course is a bounded set of material. KnowNote treats it that way: one notebook per subject, retrieval confined to it, and every answer carrying the passage it came from, with the page or slide recorded.

What a notebook holds

The four things a term usually arrives as.

Lecture slides: .pptxSlide structure is preserved, so a passage still knows which slide it came from.
Textbooks and readers: .pdfPage boundaries survive import, so a citation records the page it came from.
Handouts and notes: .docxHeadings and paragraphs are kept, so a passage reads as prose rather than as a stream of words.
Course pages and articles: web pagesThe article body is extracted and the navigation around it is discarded.

Where it helps, and where it does not

Knowing the difference is most of the value. An answer you can check teaches you something; an answer you cannot check teaches you to trust it.

Ask a question across a whole subject and you get an answer assembled from your own material with the passages attached. That is genuinely useful for revision and for connecting two lectures that did not connect themselves. It is not useful for anything the material does not cover — there is no web search behind it, and a question about something you never imported will retrieve the nearest unrelated passage rather than admit it has nothing. Read the citations.

What exists today
